Shyamal and Bhumika launch ‘The Renaissance Muse’ at the Indian Couture Week 2019

New Delhi News, 26 July 2019 : Shyamal and Bhumika’s Indian Couture Collection for the season is inspired by the iconic period of renaissance which marks the rebirth of art, architecture, music, couture and theatre from the medieval ages to modernity. The famous designer couple travelled to the birthplace of the Renaissance cultural movement to explore inspirations for this Uber glam collection.

Shyamal & Bhumika couture is a constant evolution of traditional embroidery techniques using unique materials and fine detailing season after season. One gets to see intricate embellishments and surface ornamentations with elaborate beading, silk thread embroidery and floral motifs in gold zardosi thread. Inspired by inlay samples in museums, vintage European paintings, architectural details, mogul florals, renaissance costumes, and most importantly the 15th century opera theatre set, the designers have used the most colourful silk threads in delicate embroideries that adorn lustrous silks while making a slight departure from the traditional fashion. Shyamal & Bhumika signature cutwork edging and painterly florals signifies the couple’s beautiful love story.

The collection comprises of timeless bridal couture, exquisite mens sherwani jackets, bias skirts with sensuous cholees, shararas, kalidaar paneled lehengas, trendy shoulder baring blouses, structures jackets, saris in sheer organzas, asymmetric hemlines, signature cowl dresses, trailing kalidaars, exquisitely crafted veils, peplum tops, poet sleeves, georgettes & translucent tulle and fun details for brides and grooms for a perfect romantic feel on their big day. Shyamal & Bhumika menswear is designed in understated hand woven tussars, matkas and moonga variety of silks making it unconventionally elegant.

The interesting use of color has a blend of traditional Indian tones along with unusual vintage tones inspired by the ceiling frescos of the 15-17th centuries. To create an interesting variety of cut and colour, the collection has a wide range of jewel tones, vintage pastels, Indian reds, wine, blush pinks, watermelon, mood grey, powder blue, navy, muted olive, dusty mint, fennel green, emerald, almond beige and vintage cream.

The Shyamal & Bhumika Couture 2019 collection is a celebration of ‘India to the World’ giving employment to several artisans and craftsmen, maintaining a connect between their global muse of today and India’s age old craft techniques.
For the Renaissance Muse collection, Shyamal and Bhumika have collaborated with Jewels of Jaipur. Noor jahan is an epitome of beauty and grace. A visionary ruler of patron of art and an exceptional jewelry designer- She was a woman ahead of her time. The queen’s life story inspired Jewels of Jaipur to create an intricately designed bridal jewelry collection, Annora which will be showcased on the runway with Shyamal & Bhumika’s Couture Collection. The collection consists of precious stones like emerald, sapphires and rubies with polki jewellery made in 18kt yellow gold.
