New Delhi News, 18 Sep 2019 : Oxford bookstore and Namita Gokhale hosted a special discussion session at Oxford Book Store, Connaught Place on ‘’STORYTELLING- THE DEVDUTT WAY’’ with Devdutt Pattanaik, an Indian author known for his work in mythology and interpretations of ancient Indian scriptures, stories, symbols, and rituals and Dr. Malashri Lal.

The event was one on one session of rich leanings from the past with Devdutt Pattanaik in conversation with Dr. Malashri Lal. At the event, the author discussed the books and learnings from the mythological books and answered questions for the audience and signed copies after the one-hour event. The discussion was also hosted with a motive to aware and induce the youth to the heritage of Mahabharata and Ramayana.

Devdutt Pattanaik is an Indian author known for his work in mythology and interpretations of ancient Indian scriptures, stories, symbols, and rituals. He has incorporated Vedic knowledge into human resource management. His books include Myth = Mithya: A Handbook of Hindu Mythology; Jaya: An Illustrated Retelling of the Mahabharata; Sita: An Illustrated Retelling of the Ramayana; Business Sutra: An Indian Approach to Management; Shikhandi: And Other Tales they Don’t Tell You; Shiva to Shankara : Giving Form to the Formless,in which he explores the layers of meanings embedded in Shiva’s linga, Leader : 50 Insights from Mythology uses myths and legends to arrive at wisdom that is both time-worn and refreshingly new, on what makes a good leader; and Culture: 50 He was the former Chief Belief Officer of Future Group, one of India’s largest retailers. Malashri Lal-Prof. Malashri Lal is currently the Convener of the English Advisory Board of the Sahitya Akademi. She retired recently from her positions as the Dean of Colleges, Dean, Academic Activities & Projects and also Chairperson, Research Council at the University of Delhi. She has written and lectured extensively on women’s socio-cultural positioning and women’s writing. Among her thirteen books are the most recent works, the co-edited volumes, Speaking for Myself: Anthology of Asian Women’s Writing, In Search of Sita: Revisiting Mythology, both published by Penguin India (2009) and Chamba-Achamba: Women’s Oral Narratives ( Sahitya Akademi (2012). She has served as a member of the jury for several literary awards including the Commonwealth Writers Prize, London and is currently a member of the Steering Committee for the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. Her areas of specialization are Women’s Studies, Cultural Studies, and Indian Literature in English. Lately, she has been working on the Rabindranath Tagore.
