Faridabad News, 12 March 2021 : The Research Promotion Cell of DAV Institute of Management, Faridabad in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell organised E Workshop on 12th March, 2021, for the first year students of MBA and MCA. The topic of the session was Fundamentals of Intellectual Property Rights and the speaker of the day was Dr. Suvarna S Nilakh, Assistant Professor, ILS Law College, Pune. She highlighted the importance of Intellectual Property for businesses and why it needs to be protected. She said that Intellectual Property Rights are an important tol for consumer protection as they help in identifying the quality of a product. She said that Intellectual property protection is critical to fostering innovation. Without protection of ideas, businesses and individuals would not reap the full benefits of their inventions and would focus less on research and development. Similarly, artists would not be fully compensated for their creations and cultural vitality would suffer as a result. Protecting our Intellectual property ensures the material reward for intellectual property, availability of original products for consumers and for economic growth and advancement in technology sector.
