The lyrics are simple yet powerful, and they capture the essence of the movie perfectly. The song has been composed by Shameer Tandon and sung by Sunetra Banerjee and Mame Khan.
Talking about his song, the lyricist says, “Afwaah is a social commentary on a variety of topics, including the country’s present political situation, the love jihaad debate, and the role of social media and rumors in corrupting the youth. So, while writing the lyrics, I wanted to make sure that the religious aspect did not add to the heat, but rather provoke thoughts about the reality of the situation.”
He continues, “The way I got to learn from all the teachers of Ballia-BHU and JNU, in the same way, I got to learn from the most celebrated film director in the film industry Sudhir Mishra. He told me to get inspiration from Bob Dylan’s song Its Allrigh, Ma (I’M Only Bleeding) cause he felt the song suited the situation of the film ‘Afwah’ After listening to this song, I wanted to write a song to Shamir Tandon’s tune with a Rajasthani flavor. ‘Aaj Yeh Basant’ is the result of all this hard work. I have lived up to the expectations of the director. Let’s see what my fans have to say about it”
