Mumbai News, 16 Nov 2021: Last month proved to be a reinventing phase for Gagan Arora who shed his funny onscreen image and played an intense character in the highly acclaimed family thriller Tabbar opposite legends like Pavan Malhotra and Supriya Pathak. And now it seems like the appreciation for that portrayal is converting into more projects.

Gagan will next be seen in an upcoming horror-comedy directed by Tabbar creator and co-writer Harman Wadala. The film also features Aparshakti Khurana, coincidentally with whom Gagan had previously worked as an assistant director on the 2018 horror-comedy Stree.

Talking about this new project, an excited Gagan shares, “Harman is venturing into direction with an amazing script on the lines of a horror-comedy/thriller. It’s about three boys and their journeys. Along the way, they form three couples.” The film is backed by Jio Studios and is expected to go on floors in mid-December this year. It will be eyeing a theatrical release next year.

Gagan has previously worked in light-hearted shows like College Romance and Hostel Girls. In Tabbar, he played the part of Happy, a middle-class Punjabi boy who is helped by his family to cover up a crime. The performance bagged him appreciation from the critics and audiences alike. “There’s an unsaid rule in this industry that unless you’ve done a serious project, you’ve not made it as an actor,” the actor insists.

But the success of Tabbar has opened new doors for Gagan and the actor acknowledges that. “It’s getting more experimental now, like someone reached out to me recently to host a documentary series. It shows how seriously people start taking you after you’ve done a good part in a good show,” he concludes.
