Mumbai News, 03 April 2020 : When he won the Mr India International title three years ago, Darasing Khurana promised to devote himself towards the welfare of his country and he’s living upto it in the most honest way possible. The model, who went on to associate with various social causes and is also an active part of the NGO, Datri (he is also its brand ambassador), knows what deserves priority in life. Dara is set to tie the knot with celebrity publicist, Monaa Jaswani (she has managed big names like Aditi Rao Hydari, Ileana Dcruz, Sonu Sood, R Madhavan, Satish Kaushik and Pen India Ltd), this month. And rather than having a big-fat wedding, the couple has decided to make it a low-key affair. The wedding ceremony in Lucknow will be intimate so that the funds they gather can be channelised for a better and noble purpose.

“I am glad to be getting married to one of my closest friends. I am sure life is only going to get better from here. What’s even more satisfying is that we are able to contribute to make difference to others’ lives as we step into our new life together. Convincing my fiancée Monaa to give up on the idea of a lavish wedding wasn’t difficult, because we are of the same wavelength and school of thought. Both of us feel strongly for social causes and we thought a great way of making our marriage a remembrance would be by bringing about a chance in the lives of the needy. I consider myself really lucky to have a life partner like her,” says Darasing.

Born and brought up in the small town of Parbhani in Maharashtra, Darasing wants to bring about a change in the lives of the people who live in the villages of that area. “While growing up, I realised that there used to be a lot of water crisis in my town, but since we could afford to source water tanks at home, we didn’t experience any scarcity, as such. But a couple of years ago, when I visited a few villages in the region for some NGO work, I asked a few kids about their schooling. I was a shocked to realise that they don’t go to school because they travel miles to fetch water for their homes. That’s when I promised myself that I have to work towards the betterment of the scenario,” says Dara.

The model feels that the talks of infrastructural development are redundant when the basic necessity of water cannot be fulfilled. “Though there is a lot of political pressure, I will do whatever it takes to help these people have proper water facilities at their disposal,” he adds.
