Faridabad News, 10 July 2021 : “We all wish we could do more to support underprivileged people facing challenges and their caregivers, beyond our prayers.”
The stark reality of our country is that for one-fourth of Indians, from the poor, underprivileged, elderly and homeless sections of society, every day is a hunger day with no means for adequate food or nutrition. Hunger leads to malnutrition which in turn leaves people susceptible to diseases. The situation is particularly distressing in respect of children because half of all kids younger than three years old in India weigh too little for their age.
While eradication of poverty remains the long-term goal, in the interim the short-term goal would be to harness the resources of well-to-do Indians and feed the multitudes so that no adult or child goes to bed hungry. Many of us are pricked by the contrast between our own easy spending and the widespread deprivation around us but have no idea how to help. So to move from quiet guilt to effective action by helping to combat hunger among deserving people and in order to serve as an inspiration the Rotaract club of DAVIM organised a Food donation drive “ANNAM- DAANAM” under the project FULLFILLMENT 2.0 of Rotary club of Faridabad on 10th July 2021. The objective of this donation drive was to feed the poor, needy, the underprivileged, the elderly and the homeless. in nearby areas of NIT -5, Dusshehra ground Baanke Bihari mandir and NIT 3. The team of Rotaractors of DAVIM donated 150 packets of pulao, home cooked food, packed eatables following all the social distancing norms.
Dr. Ritu Gandhi Arora , Principal Officiating of DAVIM applauded the efforts of these young rotaractors who came forward with this noble idea of serving the poor and contributing in the upliftment of society.
