Faridabad News, 02 Feb 2019 : Visitors were greeted with sights and sounds of Maharashta and Thailand on a beautiful wintery morning. Beats of dhols and troupes of day performers were seen and heard in every nook and corner of the mela ground making rounds to entertain visitors. As the day progressed the ambiance began even more colourful.
The amphitheatre or the Chaupal was packed to the brim and spectators witnessed thrilling performances by various folk artists from India as well as foreign nations. Thrilling performance from folk artists from Ghana, Egypt, Thailand, Zimbabwe and many more brought to the audience never before seen art forms. Equally enchanting presentation came from the indian participants from Punjab with artists performing the mesmerising Ek Tara and the foot tapping Bhangra tunes and dances. Maharashtra showcased the traditional dances of Lavni and palki.
The mela was also visited by Hon’ble Justice Mr. M.R. Shah, Judge, Supreme Court. He along with his colleagues took a round of the meal and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and the spirit of art and craft of the mela.
ShriVikasYadav, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism stated that this edition of Surajkund international Crafts Mela will set yet another benchmark with its ever increasing participation of artists and performers especially from foreign nations. This Fair is also a must visit for craft and handicraft enthusiasts as well as foodies who want to experience new flavours and cuisines.
