Faridabad News, 17 July 2020 : The National Webinar on “Acquiring Proficiency in English, Written and Oral” took place on July 15, 2020 at D.A.V Centenary College, Faridabad. It was organised by Department of English under the guidance of our honourable officiating Principal Dr. Savita Bhagat who addressed the audience and shared her views about importance of English language in modern world.

Professor Deepti Gupta Nee Dhamija, the Chairperson of Department of English and Cultural studies and Dean, Alumni Relations at Panjab University, Chandigarh was invited as a Key note speaker.. She is a Senior ILETS examiner (Certified and trained by IDP, Australia), RELO – Access Trainer (Trained by RELO), etc. She is an expert in many other areas including ELT. She stressed on various issues in teaching and learning English Language and shared many innovative ideas and applications which can be used to acquire proficiency in English language. She also focused on varieties in English Language that is revolving around the world by quoting the numerous examples. Professor Aparna Vivek who is heading the Department of Languages and Haryanvi Culture at CCSHAU, hisar was invited as a Guest of Honour. She is entrusted with the job of conducting refresher courses for the faculty of State Agricultural Universities and ICAR institutes from all over India. She is a Joint Director in many training programmes organised by Directorate of Human Resource Management. She delivered her talk on significance of sounds in Spoken English and how anyone can acquire a good command in English language in a very short duration of time. She also discussed about RP, the standard form of British English Pronunciation. Questions of the Faculties, Research Scholars, and other participants who joined from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Hyderabad and other corners of India were answered through the virtual platform by the resource persons in an interactive way. At the end of the webinar, our respected Principal Dr. Savita Bhagat extended a very hearty vote of thanks to the Guest of Honour and the Resource Person who took out their valuable time from their busy schedule and shared the vast knowledge with all the participants. She also thanked all the participants and the organising secretaries of the webinar Mrs. Sonia, Mr. Saroj Kumar and Mr. Shivam Jhamb for their great contribution in the success of this productive webinar.
