NHPC celebrates 47th Raising Day

Faridabad News, 08 Nov 2021: NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company celebrated its 47th Raising Day on 7th November 2021 at NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad and across all it regional offices, power stations and projects with great enthusiasm and fervour.

Shri R.K. Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, the Hon’ble Minister extended his warmest greeting to all NHPC employees on the occasion of NHPC 47th Raising Day. Hon’ble Minister praised NHPC employees for their expertise, hardwork and dedication. He said that hydro power is environment friendly and need of the hour. He added that India has vast hydro potential that is yet to be tapped. He further said that NHPC is growing steadily and is on the way to become a 50000 MW company and one of the largest companies globally in its field. He particularly appreciated the achievements of NHPC in hydropower development in the last few years.

In his address, Shri A.K. Singh, CMD, NHPC thanked Shri R.K. Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India and Ministry of Power for their constant support and guidance. He informed that NHPC currently has a total installed capacity of 7071 MW from its 24 power stations. He also said that Hon’ble Union Minister of Power had laid down the target for NHPC towards becoming a 50000 MW company and NHPC has since been working hard towards this goal and will become a 50000 MW by 2040. He further said NHPC is increasingly becoming a completely self-reliant organization and is carrying out most of work in-house without relying on external agencies and is thereby working under the true spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Speaking on the occasion,Shri S.K.G Rahate, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power lauded NHPC for its efforts and execution of projects in most difficult and challenging areas. He also said that NHPC will be playing a major role in the meeting the electricity demand of the nation through its clean energy portfolio.

During the celebration, winners of NHPC Awards Scheme (2020-21) under various categories as such Best Power Station, Best Construction Project, Exemplary Commitment, Star of NHPC and Star student for Class X and Class XII were awarded.

The function was also graced by senior officers from Ministry of Power and NHPC officers including Shri Ashish Upadhyaya, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, ShriRaghurajMadhav Rajendran, Joint Secretary (Hydro), Ministry of Power, Shri Y.K. Chaubey, Director (Technical), Shri R.P. Goyal, Director (Finance), ShriBiswajitBasu, Director (Projects) and Shri A.K. Srivastava, CVO, NHPC along with other dignitaries. ShriBiswajitBasu, Director (Projects) delivered the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries for taking time from busy schedules and gracing NHPC day with their presence.

A special highlight of the celebrations was an enthralling performance by renowned playback singer Padma Shri awardee Shri Kailash Kher which was enjoyed by all present on the occasion.
