Gurugram News, 03 Dec 2019 : CBRE South Asia Pvt. Ltd, world’s leading real estate consulting firm, today organized its fourth edition of ‘Walk For A Wish’ initiative in association with Muskaan and Sense International, NGOs working towards training specially-abled. Fostering a culture of giving with CBRE foundation, ‘Walk for A Wish’ aims to create an inclusive ecosystem for individuals with special needs.

The walkathon was flagged off by Mr. Amit Khatri (IAS), District Commissioner, Gurgaon and Anshuman Magazine, Chairman and CEO, India, South East Asia, Middle East and Africa, CBRE. The initiative aims at creating equal and inclusive opportunities for people with special abilities and raise awareness around other humanitarian issues. In an effort to promote an inclusive ecosystem for the specially-abled, CBRE also invited employees, clients and partners from across Delhi-NCR, and had more than 500 people participating in the walk, including students from Muskaan and Sense India.

Understanding the current scenario where the number of specially abled people working in the corporate sector are currently increasing, CBRE is constantly working towards sensitizing the society and help recognize the capabilities.

Commenting on the initiative, Anshuman Magazine, Chairman and CEO, India, South East Asia, Middle East and Africa, CBRE said, “At CBRE, we are constantly working towards bringing forth considerable and measurable changes in the community we operate in. We are overwhelmed with the response received on ‘Walk For A Wish’ and it gives us immense pride to see that our program is driving awareness about individuals with special needs. With ‘Walk For A Wish’, we want to create an environment of inclusiveness, one that aligns with our ‘RISE Values. We are not only focused on empowering people with disabilities, but also contribute towards a cause close to our heart.”

Mr. Amit Khatri (IAS), District Commissioner, Gurgaon, said “Specially-abled children have unique skills and it is important that we understand their capabilities and guide them in the right direction. It’s encouraging to learn that corporates like CBRE and NGOs like Muskaan and Sense International India are working towards ensuring that these individuals are trained for employment in the corporate world and make them a part of the growing economy.”

CBRE’s RISE Values – Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence – are the foundation upon which the organization has been built. These values are timeless and transcend all markets, service lines, languages and business cultures. Over the last decade, funds raised from “Walk for a Wish” have changed lives in communities across regions and going forward, the initiative will continue to play a deeper role in the societies where we live, work and play.

Supporting CBRE in its initiative, Akhil Paul, Director of Sense International India, said, “We thank CBRE for supporting Sense India and giving us an opportunity to create larger awareness about deaf-blindness and multiple disabilities. Sense India was established in 1997 and we are the first and only national organization working for deafblind people. We have managed to reach out to approx. 78,000 persons with deaf-blindness over 22 years, from an estimated population of over 500,000. There is a need to do lot more. As Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”, lets come together to make a difference in lives of persons with deaf-blindness and their families.”

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Shanti Auluck, Chairperson & Founder, Muskaan NGO, said, “Disability is a form of human diversity, let us recognize and respect that. Everyone must get an opportunity to grow and live with dignity and that is the measure of equity and social justice.”

Steering conversations for creating career opportunities, CBRE had employed two individuals – Mukund Ganjoo and Sidhant Kasera – with Intellectual Disability. In their roles, they are responsible for Data Entry and Data Management in the Marketing Department. They have now become an integral part of the team and have won hearts at CBRE.

In addition to this, as part of its CSR initiatives, the company also introduced “Ek Pehal”, an initiative aimed at bringing positive changes in the lives of migrant workers and their families at various locations. As part of its larger objective of giving back to the society, the company will be collaborating with charitable organizations that are working towards the community upliftment.
