Jaipur, 14 July 2022: Continuing its efforts to foster safe riding habits, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) in association with Rajasthan State Police today culminated road safety awareness drive at Rajasthan Police Academy located at RPA Road, Pani Pech, Nehru Nagar, Jaipur.

In order to ensure the safety of police forces who selflessly dedicate their lives in protecting the citizens, the Rajasthan State Police gave responsibility to HMSI to conduct a road safety awareness programme for newly recruited Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Sub-inspectors and Constables of the state. The 3-days (July 11th-13th) awareness drive on how to be safe on roads sensitized more than 400 newly recruited police officials of Rajasthan.

The road safety awareness drive was culminated in the august presence of Sh. Navjyoti Gogoi (IPS, IGP, Rajasthan Police Academy, Jaipur) and Sh. Prabhu Nagaraj (Operating Officer, Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India) along with other dignitaries from Rajasthan State Police and HMSI.

Elaborating on spreading road safety awareness Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj, Operating Officer – Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, “HMSI salutes the Rajasthan State Police who is working rigorously to ensure a safer habitat for its citizens. With this road safety awareness drive, we intended to give back to the community by spreading road safety awareness to the newly recruited officials who are dedicatedly serving the state every day. We thank the Rajasthan Police for extending their support in conducting this safety drive ensuring safer roads for all. Moving forward, we will continue to expand our road safety initiatives for creating more responsible road users.”

About HMSI’s road safety awareness drive for Rajasthan police:

HMSI’s 3.5-hours training program educated the participants through the theory session on road rules & regulations, road signs & markings, driver’s duties on road, riding gear & posture explanation and safe riding etiquettes. This was followed by training on Honda’s virtual riding simulator to experience nearly 100 possible dangers on road before actual riding.

Further, to improve the risk prediction ability of riders on roads, participants were provided special danger prediction training known as Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT) which helped in enhancing rider/driver’s sensitivity to danger and ensured safe driving action on roads. To provide participants a holistic understanding of road safety, the participants implemented the learnings through practical training on a Honda two-wheeler.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India’s CSR commitment towards Road Safety:

For Honda globally, road safety comes first. As announced in April 2021, “Honda will strive for zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles globally by 2050”. Fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (CSR), HMSI has been promoting road safety in India since its start in 2001. Working towards the realisation of Honda’s global safety vision, today HMSI’s road safety awareness initiatives have already spread to over 46 lac Indians. Its team of skilled safety instructors conduct daily programmes at its 10 adopted traffic parks across India and 7 Safety Driving Education Centres (SDEC).

Not only this, all 1000+ dealerships of HMSI across India spread road safety awareness. HMSI’s proprietary virtual riding simulator increases the risk-prediction ability of riders; while new customers too are given predelivery safety advise (PDSA) before they start riding at every dealership across India.

Additionally, ensuring that learning doesn’t stop in the New Normal, HMSI started the digital road safety education initiative – Honda Road Safety E-Gurukul. Since its start in May’20, this initiative has sensitized 7 Lac+ Indians on importance of being aware & responsible road users.
