7th December announced ‘World Transgender Day ‘ At 6th Delhi International Film Festival 2017

New Delhi News : The 6th Edition of Delhi International Film Festival leaving no bars to rule the cinema industry from all around the world. Not even cinema, the DIFF is also participating in the social issues which are somehow neglected by the society. Therefore, for the same, the very well known personalities like Laxmi Narayan, Bhawani Maa & many more Announced 7th December will be celebrated as ‘WORLD TRANSGENDER DAY’.

The press conference held in NDMC Convention Centre, Delhi on behalf of Delhi International Film Festival, in association with by The Social Circle – A Society for Cause and Inclusiveness with support from Municipal Corporation (NDMC) as venue partner and Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

Well, for the same the announcement on Transgender Community and their rights were also discussed by the panel which included the transgender rights activist Laxmi Narayan, Bhawani Maa a world noted Transgender, along with his entire team. H.E. Augusto Montiel, the ambassador, Embassy of Venezuela in India was also present to grace the event.

While interacting with media Laxmi Narayan stated some facts of society, as per the words, “Our transgender community is the most real community in the world. We don’t live a dual life. I am the way I am and I respect it entirely, and I want the entire world to respect and accept it the way we belong. I am not ditching my soul and. There are several men and women who are not perfect, therefore society really needs to understand this and accept the fact. Therefore, i am announcing 7th of December the World Transgender Day & I am really thankful to Delhi International Film Festival for supporting us.”

Well, the 6th DIFF has started on a journey, collaborating with film festivals from more than 54 countries such as USA, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Afghanistan, Russia, Jordan, Israel, Ukraine etc., and screening of 174 films in various sections like World Cinema, NRI Cinema, Cinema across the border, Indian Showcase, Documentaries, Green films, student films, short films, etc. Working towards making it all a grand success and a platform which celebrates cinema, art, literature, and culture.
