New Delhi News, 11 Oct 2019 : On October 11, Bhumika Sharma showcased her new collection ‘Nejma’ at the Lotus India Fashion Week in Delhi.

Inspired by Moroccon architecture the collection wasa beautiful and effortless fusion of vintage craftsmanship with modern silhouettes.

Nejma was manifested in a stunning line of occasion wear that featured prints, geometric patterns and bright colors. Handcrafted French knots, resham thread work doused in luxurious pearls with gold and silver accents, captured the opulent and intricate handwork done on pillars across Casablanca.

Rich textiles such as pure georgettes, silk organzas, linen satin and chiffons was seen across the collection. Nejma was created to embody timeless sophistication, modern luxury and ease.

The collection was a composition of summer occasion wear in symmetrical motif prints in bright hues.

The final walk witnessed Sobita Dhulipala looking very stylish and chic. Stealing the show however was the lustrous outfit that she wore.

Concept note
The true inspiration for Nejma our Spring Summer 2020 collection, lies in Morocco’s architecture which is exotic, majestic, contemporary, eclectic and traditional.

With their picturesque and chic pale white streets and artful architectural details;Marrekesh and Casblanca were the focal points of the collection.

While creating Nejma, we were transported to the soft evenings spent sipping Morrocan mint tea at a French cafe sitting under the grand golden horshoe tiled arches, on a lazy summer day at Marrakesh. The serenity and joy felt while listening to the lapping of the ocean waves and salty sea breeze brushing against the tall palm trees is the mood of the collection.

The complex and beautiful marriage of the old and new, brought about by Islamic tradition, French colonialism and Hispanic reign, is the heart of Nejma.

Moroccan architecture includes geometric patterns, bright colours, most noteably seen in tiles known as Zelij, which hugely influences the prints and the colour palette that we’ve used for Nejma.

Our collection features intricate paisleys placed in ellipses, with symmetrical motif prints in bright hues of reds and aquas with ivory as the base.

Our classic silhouettes are much like the Neo Deco Moors; stark, traditional yet contemporary and modern. Our fluid fringes, ruffles and elaborate bows have been incorporated to add a bit of drama to our ensembles. Our handcrafted French knots, resham thread work doused in luxurious pearls with gold and silver accents, capture the opulent and intricate handiwork done on pillars across Casablanca. Rich textiles such as pure georgettes, silk organzas and linen satin and chiffons are ideal for tropical noons and evenings. Nejma was created to embody timeless sophistication, modern luxury and ease.
