This year they bring their much-awaited celebration of the INDIAN SAREE: THE GRAND SAREE FAIR from 20th till 28th September ‘19 at the Nature Bazaar Venue, Kisan Haat, Andheria Modh to celebrate the ageless garment and bring forth the traditions and culture that envelopes its lifecycle. The main aim behind the event is to increase greater awareness about the various types of sarees, the lives involved around it and the importance of it in the Indian culture. Laila Tyabji says- “Textiles are the warp and weft of India. Their threads bind us together and give us a history and identity. Examining these strands – each region and community having its own distinctive weaving, wearing, and motif tradition – helps us better understand ourselves and our past, present, and future.”

This year, Dastkar aimed to engage a younger crowd as well by calling onto the various styles of drapes that make the garment relevant to the wearer. The Indian Saree sees no bar in terms of age, religion, caste, or color. With the #mysareestyle campaign running across various social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, the intent is to bring forward the idea of saree is not just festive wear, but also incorporating the garment in our day to day lives. For this purpose, we throw light on how the garment has been made to suit the individuality of the wearer. Through the campaign, many young women were seen picking up the ageless garment and draping it in their own version of it – sporting it with shoes or crop tops.
