New Delhi News  : Chef, an upcoming Hindi film directed by Raja Krishna Menon features Saif Ali Khan and Padmapriya Janakoraman in the lead roles. Chef marks the Bollywood debut of Malayalam actress Padmapriya Janakiraman. Chef is the official remake of John Favreau’s 2014 Hollywood film of the same name, which starred the director in the titular role. The film largely revolves around the relationship of Saif’s character with his son and how they overcome their strained relations over food.

Recently the team was here in Delhi and promoted the film in Select City Walk PVR Plaza, Delhi. Food films are rare in India. Chef seems like one, where food serves as a catalyst in the relations of the two key characters of the film. In the case of Chef, they are Saif and his son. Saif Ali Khan will be seen playing the titular role in the film.

Saif on being asked about the film said, “The film is based on relationships because Raja Ji wanted me to be comfortable in the kitchen so we have tried and practice a lot for cooking as well.” Moreover, on being asked about the fatherly feel while shoot, Saif said, “It felt very natural. He’s a nice kid and was chosen from 150 kids and checked very minutely. He was very sweet natural and loving so it was a pleasure to work with him. Including it, he also taught me some natural acting. We enjoyed a lot.”

Raja when asked about the experience and the level of responsibility while making this film said, “Responsibility is always same with every film. Only the expectations gets increased but the responsibility remains the same. The film is based on a father-son relationship. The film is very relatable and answers many questions that we face in life. We have explored the normal relationships. The movie has a divorced couple too who keeps their issues away from the child and do his upbringing but the food in this film is only a way to explore and portray different relationships and their intensity.”

Padmapriya on being asked about the journey said, “It’s my second Bollywood movie but when you work with good crew and script then it becomes meaningful. It’s a very intense film. It was an honor to work with them because I have admired their work from both inside and outside.”

The trailer does contain the warmth that is primarily required in a film high on food and emotion. The film appears as a fast-paced narrative, ending on an emotional dangling. The chef is co-produced by Bhushan and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series Films, Abudantia Entertainment and Bandra West Pictures.

The film will be served hot and hit the screens on 6 October.
