New Delhi News, 13 Nov 2019 : Driven by the global call to action for an electric mobility future, engineering students from the prestigious Shiv Nadar University are debuting at Shell’s Make the Future Live India 2019 in the battery-electric prototype category. Comprising 12 highly motivated students, Team Rudra has created an electric vehicle prototype that exemplifies the energy efficiency needed to potentially address today’s mobility challenges.

Inspired by the shape of the raindrop, the car’s outlook is an aerodynamically efficient bio-inspired design which ensures the least drag coefficient. With the common goal of achieving the highest mileage with the least fuel consumption, the team decided to power the vehicle with hub motors – which have the least transmission losses – instead of making it a chain-driven one.

They are certain that this combination of aerodynamic design and high-performance engine will achieve an impressive mileage of 200 Km/unit at the event.
Their mentor, Dr. Nishant Mishra (Associate Professor at the university’s Department of Mechanical Engineering) has been extremely supportive in imparting knowledge and helping the students with their concerns during the car’s fabrication.
“We at Team Rudra share a common goal of making the world a sustainable and better place to live in. The drive behind participating in Shell Eco-marathon has been its immense scale, as well as the national and global assessment and recognition that working prototypes receive. Representing our institute and the team on a competition of this calibre is a great feeling that anyone would dream for. Shell Eco-marathon encourages us to apply the engineering skills we’ve learned towards a better future”, says Apoorv Mehta, Team Manager, Team Rudra.
