New Delhi, 1st July 2020 : The final verdict on the upcoming exams in July 2020 has kept lakhs of students across the country waiting. Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, CISCE (ICSE Board) have already announced their decision of postponing the exams that were scheduled for July. Various competitive exams such as CET, JEE Main and NEET are also scheduled for July. Students are keeping a hope that the two national level entrance exams JEE Main and NEET will also be rescheduled as the situation doesn’t seem conducive to conduct the exams. Since 16th March, educational institutions across the country have been closed as a preventive measure to avoid Coronavirus from spreading. Several schools and educational institutes need to be reopened for JEE Main 2020. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, only after a July meeting with the stakeholders the decision to reopen the educational institutes will be taken.
In the wake of the Coronavirus Outbreak in the country, many Board examinations have been postponed and will be rescheduled after the situation is back to normal. A scheme was formulated for evaluating the performance of Class XII students that the students will have the liberty to opt either for the examinations to be conducted later, or go with the assessment process based on previously held exams. Under pressure from students requesting for the NEET-UG and JEE (Main) exams to be postponed, the government is planning to move back the dates for the main medical and engineering entrance exams as well since the board exams have been postponed. Amid all the uncertainty surrounding these examinations, many students and parents now insist that it should be further postponed as it is not safe to appear for these exams. However, neither the HRD Ministry nor the NTA, the monitoring authority, has issued any statement that the examinations could be postponed yet. Parents have also raised their voices to revoke the entrance exams and to grant admissions based on merit positions to the students. It could be unjust to a few students however.

It would be safe to say that National Level Entrance Exams like JEE Main and NEET should be conducted only after the state has completed the pending class XII exams. Given the fact that the coronavirus cases have grown rapidly in India and the graph doesn’t seem to flatter, it would be very unjust for the students to still appear for their examinations.”
